Default Well,...

You will more than likely catch some grief about your questions, but then again I may be wrong. I'm kinda of scratching my head on your questions myself, but I will act as if you are serious, and try to answer them.

1. Tanker Yanker. Is someone that hauls a tanker. No, nothing bad about it.

2. Load locks. Those are used in dry vans and reefers. You will not need one in a tanker. A load lock is a long bar used to prevent freight from falling over.

3. Logbooks. If you are paid by the hour, and do not exceed a 100 mile air mile radius, then you won't need to do a log, unless you exceed 12 hours working time in a 24 hour period. But, you will need to punch a time card, or keep a time sheet. Otherwise, you will need to fill out a log daily. You will be trained on this at school.

4. Tanker drivers hang out. I hang out at home, when I'm not at work. Can't speak for other tank drivers.

You don't use load locks down there? Out here in the west we put them up depending on what load, whether diesel, gas, or jet fuel. It's a ***** moving that bulkhead for sure!

Default Wally...

I'll be glad to sell you my old load locks. I'll even throw in a special adapter for kerosene. Well, since you are a friend, and not a foe; I'll even throw in Enstygatre's Trucker Survival kit. That includes a blanket, and a can of vienna sausages.

Default good choice on a job

Congrats on starting school. Being a tanker-yanker is not a bad thing, although now you may have to be more aware for security reasone then ever before depending on what you haul.

Driving a tanker will be diffrent then the box trailers they have at the school. You will have to remember that the load will always be moving and keep that in mind when taking turns, lane changes and starting and stopping. All tankers are not the same inside, some like gas tankers have bulkheads and baffles this will slow down the front to back slosh but not the side to side much. Other tanks like the ones that I haul are called smooth-bore, this means that there is only one copartment and no baffles to slow the front to back slosh. These are tricky to haul when you do not have a full load because the load just keeps moving and can slam the front of the trailer with unbeliveable force if you have to stop in a hurry. They are not too bad when full as the load has nowhere to move.

I have been hauling tanks for a year and a half now and it pays great and I am home every night. If you have a family or would like regular time home I highly recommend driving a tanker vs. freight. If you have any questions I will be glad to try and answer them. I haul haz and non-haz waste. I do not haul gas though so I dont know much about that. Best of luck. Jersey Filly

Default Could it be?

Could it be that Dogwalker has graduated from school and is now the all knowing professional, that has paid dues by logging onto Layover.com? I am of course being sarcastic.
