Default hot shot loads for pickups

Does anyone have any info on hot shot loads? It is where you contract your pickup truck out and you have to get this hot load there fast?

Default hot shotting

I don't know--do I want to do this? Is this guy legit or just yanking my chain? Oh well here goes. A hot-shot rig is a one to two ton tractor hooked like a semi with a 5th wheel pulling a flatbed trailer. They haul light machinery/insulation/irrigation pipe.plastic pipe, etc. Not many of these outfits around anymore--only ones I know of is Mercer, Farm Service and Supply, and Jones Motor. Maybe Anderson.

Default How they make it?

What I want to know is how guys that deliver single RV's make any money at it? Say the load has to go 1,400 mi. That's 2 overnights in motels, plus they pay their own fuel and food. How the heck they make any money at it?

Cheers, Steve J.
