reefer or dry van?

Given your choice for the same money would a driver prefer reefer or dry van for regional runs?

a dry box. No grocery whse. (if you can help it). No reefer worries and no produce/poultry hauling. Some of the least paying and more bull**** jobs of all. IMHO

I second that, dry.

Because not all companies do a lot of grocery warehouses and plenty of dry-vans do visit grocery warehouses. Cereal and Charmin and a zillion other products don't require refrigeration -- at least until Global Warming gets much worse. =0)

In winter, some "dry" products need temperature protection to keep from freezing and a reefer does that. You can always haul a dry load in a reefer but it's tough to haul a reefer load in a dry van.

its kindof a dumb question because this scenario doesn't exist. across the board reefer loads tend to pay more because they are a bigger hassle and require "more expensive" machinery. I think like everyone else, that this is a no brainer. of course you wanna run a dry van if you could but you won't make the same dough. Now most vans are 53 and a lot of reefers are only 48. That could be a point for running reefer but i don't think the difference is that big.
