I know what you mean guys
Roundup: you must be referring to Emily, the most recent editor before Scott. I never knew her, but I heard stories about her and I don't blame you for having reservations. Have you checked out Boardroom to Breakroom lately? That's our new editor's unedited version of what you guys are saying. In fact, just yesterday we had a debate whether or not to use this lady's exact words on "big ol' chunk of chicken," and he said, "She said it, we're running it." Thanks for your comment, even though you don't want it run. I understand, and it's not the first time I've been turned down.
Messyme: I WISH this job was 9-5. On press day I feel like I'm pulling your kind of hours up here from 8 until 9 p.m. depending on who missed their deadline! However, my dad is a trucker who hauls flowers coast to coast and I know what kind of hours you guys pull. I've been trying to schedule a ride-along with hime for months now, but his unpredictable schedule makes it difficult to plan anything more than 24 hours in advance. He was the one who gave me the idea to write you guys. He said most people know if they're going to be on the road or not. I don't specifically want to know that you'll be in Vancouver unloading a case of VCRs or DVDs. I really like Sam the Ham's story, but I very well know not every trucker has a great story for the holidays. But I want to know both kinds of stories, if you guys will share them.
For the record, you guys have no idea how much we depend on you, truckers, for story ideas, comments, information and a general sense of reality in the trucking world. I'm the only one on staff related to a trucker, so I have acute appreciation for you all and what you go through. So please call us, call me with your concern, day-to-day stories or anything. Our Boardroom to Breakroom is real, those are mostly handwritten letter from you guys and sometimes we have to struggle to get enough letters to fill the page.
For a newspaper on your side, you guys sure are quiet. Write us, call us, email us, whatever, just be heard. You know it's about time.
By the way, anyone else have any holiday stories or plans?
Thank you Thank you Thank you,
