Howdy my name is david and im wanting to get my cdl. I have looked at the schools around me and I was wonderin is it better to go otr or stay local starting out, im seriou bout wanting to make this a career, and im not givin up on this. Any info would be great.
There is no generic answer here, David. IT depends on what is right for you.
We know nothing about you or what you expect from trucking as a vocation. You have to search your heart and interests for the answer. Also what is available at the time is also a consideration.

My best advice is find a company willing to train you. It's a tough job and it's not for everyone. For the right person it's a great job. You'll almost certainly have to go OTR for at least a year and then you might be able to find a local job. It's not only the companies that require this but the insurance companies.
A company that will train you will also hire you as a company driver afterward. Going to a CDL school on your own, does not guarantee any company will hire you after.
