Knowing what i do of the two owners i'd say if anything a merger maybe.. Both have egos as big as texas .... Oh well one big bottom feeder is better than two bottom feeders... Besides it'll be easier for just one company to file bankruptcy.....Just look at the merger of delta and nortwest that'll be a fire sale scenario in a couple of years just wait and see.....

Mergers and buyouts are all about getting rid of your competition and reducing costs...ie: laying off employees.

C'mon driver, unless you're fresh out of school you already know that if a driver said it -- there is about a 99% chance that it is total BS. You can bet that if companies are merging or going bankrupt, the last persons to know about it will be those sitting on CDLs, followed by dispatchers, mechanics, janitors and that doofus working on the fuel island at the terminal...

The beauty of the internet is that info is at your fingertips so, with a quick check, you'll find that TMC is probably the more profitable company and both seem to be doing just fine. In 2007 TMC had sales of $196 million vs Maverick at $124 million for a whopping $72 million edge. That's 58% more sales then Maverick and they did it with just 6% (100) more trucks... IMHO, it would seem that TMC is better positioned to buy Maverick.

I wish I had the heart to sell used cars to drivers over the CB... They will believe anything.

K-mart bought Sears and they were smaller and just out of bankrupcy.
The sales means nothing it's what they have for cash and borrowing power. TMC has some pretty big claims pending on them.

I remember --- back in the day --- When J.B. Hunt bought Stoops-Express and Over-Land --
and tried to rename the company
J.B-Stoops-Over.

Don't believe me?
Look it up.

That's true and anything is possible with leverage, but normally it is the more prosperous company that does the buying. Rocksnsand made a good point above and companies do buy others to gain an edge.

Even so, do you really think a driver is going to have a clue, particularly with privately held companies? If a driver tells me that there are peanuts on a Payday bar, I'll check when I unwrap it.

It's Romur...

Its to my understanding TMC is in bed with Trinity... TMC is not doing all that well and Trinity has been supporting them the past yr or two.
