Your fears of having "too many females around" are warranted. But, I assure you, I have better things to do than make more negative energy. Not worth it. The original poster has some valid concerns that many of us face, and then some. Perhaps another willing soul is ready to share what works for them when things get tough. All the defensive remarks and snide comments are typical. As I initially stated, people find it hard to discuss emotional issues. The stigma is worldwide. Whether you are a trucker or an Indian chief....we all got our somethin. Truckers and those that love'em are a scrappy bunch. We have a nack at gettin' the job done. So, we have a tendency to pull'up the boot straps and keep goin. But, sometimes it's easier said than done. And you need to call a timeout, and ask yourself some serious questions. If ya need the help, get the help. But don't just do nothin...do it for you, first. Meds may not be the answer, and usually if someone tells ya that's the first approach to the solution you need to turn on your heels and leave. Ya just might need to get some **** off your chest. Whether you write it down or tell it to your closest friend or therapist, do something. Now of course, lonesomeness is one thing and then there are issues of depression, anxiety, addiction--sex, drugs, food, etc. These things are real, and they aint goin away. You know if you wanted to get lost in the labyrinth there are few truck stops where you could put a hurtin on yourself, if you wanted to. I know this might be too deep for some, but everybody aint the same.

BoYoBoY!
Ain't THAT the truth!
Would you believe,.....................................

I, too, have experienced good days and not so good days, and bad days too, I suppose. But I've found a way to help overcome those gray times.

I slip into something more comfortable, my pink speedos and (slightly) faded purple cape, and post my thoughts on Big truck related web sites. Oh, and a NASCAR web site too.

In return, other fine posters respond in kind. I think that's cool. And SOMEtimes, it's the quality of said responses that tell the story as well as the words. Maybe even more.

This is kinda personal information though, so I hope this might be like a doctor/(im)patient, situation and not tell anyone else.

WHEN life deals one lemons, make lemonade --- sweeten to taste --- best one can do. Sometimes.

Web sites can and sometimes do, have personalities all their own and it varies from site to site.
Those who frequent sites become known through words typed and transmitted, and cyber personalities can emerge. The joining of those personalities can be beneficial to relieving stress, which I believe has been called "the silent killer". Or it can go the other way,............
all depends.

Sometimes, folks come here to vent. I think that's better than doing that while driving ANY motor vehicle on the highways.
I also think there are folks who go to web sites to argue. That's what they enjoy doing. To each their own if it serves a useful purpose.

The rigors of Big truck truckin' sure CAN be stressful. And depressing. Overdoses aren't uncommon. The LONGER one bottles negative emotions up, the more likely that bottle could burst.
But what are the early warning signs?

Can't really expect a problem to be solved if we aren't aware we even have a problem...................Yet.
Ya reckon.

If one might consider the possibility of "even [having] a problem", it's a good sign. It means your lightbulb is starting to flicker, and giving you a hint that hey...time to get a clue. It's your psyche's proverbial 'tap on the shoulder'. Ya heard it before...the first step to healing is to realize there's a problem in the first place.

I'm from da ole school...be true to thine own self. Because who knows you best but you. "What are the early signs?" ....knowledge is power. One reason I love the internet....easy access to knowledge. Not too mention the ability to privately ask the tough questions, and get some real answers....but be careful...some sites have outdated misinformation. In this case verify your sources, compare info.

Here's a few sites some folks find helpful:

www.mentalhelp.net
www.pendulum.org
www.lifeway.com

By the way, Aftershock, your secret is good with me

Its quite natural for some people where they live far from their family, friends and other relatives. They are constantly in work so as to survive for their life. Yes i am talking behalf of truck and other persons. They too want rest for some days but the life will not be easy for them, if they take rest. Those who want to send message or any view to share with truck drivers are most welcome.
