I believe Dale Jr. is a good driver. With that being said...what is it going to take to get him back to a points contender? Is it him, crew, the car,or ??

There's no such thing as A "magic pill" that will help.
He's just got to get through this slump as best he can, Have faith brother he will be back someday. |

Dale jr's problem is he wants to blame everyone else except himself. He needs to start pointing the finger at himself first once he admits his faults then the team can turn things around. Theresa said it best he will not win a championship till he deciedes to be a racecar driver not a spokesman for products.

ShuX HowdY! So it's the team waiting for LillE to admit his faults that's the hold up? Wouldn't that make it the team's fault? Quote:
I remember when Teresa said that about LillE. I thought it was an odd comment for her to make back then, and I still think so. As aggressively as Teresa was marketing the Dale Earnhardt name at the time, (remember Jr. had to take his step-mom to court to get the rights to his own name returned to him.) That's pretty good when your step-mom owns your name. Technically, she could have made LillE pay for the rights to use his own name just like all the others who make huge profits using the Earnhardt name, image, and/or likeness. And NObody made more profit from the famous Earnhardt name than Teresa herself. Dale Earnhardt is like Elvis ---- dead, but still raking in millions of dollars each year in Officially Licensed merchandise. LillE makes millions of dollars each year by just having the last name, "Earnhardt". With what sponsors are required to pay to put their name on LillE's driving uniform and race car, he can be an also ran driver, and still earn more running mid-pack than the actual winner of the race is paid. LillE isn't hurting for money. And neither is he hurting for food. He isn't hungry. And without a hunger to win, the fire-in-the-belly attitude necessary to win races and/or championships just isn't there. Ever since LillE burst upon the NASCAR scene, he's been compared to his daddy, --- he's never really been able to be his own person, rather than expected to be the driver of the number 3 car's reincarnate. Personally, I don't think LillE is the caliber driver that his daddy was. Now, don't get me wrong, I like LillE, ---- but he isn't his daddy, nor does he want to be, or even trying to be. He's said so himself. But some fans can't get that through their number 8 hat covered heads. Stock Car Racing and a famous last name have made LillE a millionaire several times over. He's pulling in more dollars for his bank account than some of the champions of the season, even though he hasn't won a championship, --- and probably won't. I doubt he really cares. As it stands now, he can work half as hard as many of the other championship contenders ----- and rake in twice (or more) as much money. Championship pay for mid-pack performance. Nice work when y'all can find it. ![]() |

When he left DEI he said it was because the equipment was substandard. What a crock! Now that he has the "BEST" equipment in all of Nascar what has he shown us? Nothing! It has only made him look bad. Tell me how does the other Hendrick teams rank 1-2-3 and he is like 22nd in points? Why? Because he ****s! Unfortunately, because of his name he will be in the sport for years to come....Taking the place of someone that is truly a better talent! The only way we will see him exit the sport will be the same way his daddy did. |

Good point there, Thippy. Does make one wonder, don't it? Maybe he's just goin' through a transition period? It might be a tad intimidating to be teamed with talent like Jeff, Jimmy and Mark. And switchin' stables is a new experience to contend with. There's a lot to get used to for LillE. Might take him awhile to get in a comfort zone. Could be he's tryin' TOO hard, too. Ya reckon. ![]() Why do you say that?

If said talent being held back can't find sponsorship to run at the top, teams probably aren't interested. At least not until they've proven their talent, usually in the lower leagues. It takes money to run. And a driver who can bring in more money than another driver just might be more attractive to a team owner. Bottom line, Dale Jr. (LillE), is who he is, and I don't think what he is is bad. At least he ain't like Steven Wallace ----- Lacking tallent with an attitude and riding Rusty's coattails, ---- as much as he can. A crash lookin' for a place to happen ---- and daddy picks up the repair tab for all the wadded up race cars his son crashes. Sweet deal. Thanx dad. Quote:
I don't even wanna go there or think about that. I'm still not completely over that last lap incident at Daytona. Even though Big Dale wasn't a favorite of mine, I didn't realize how much I appreciated him until he was gone. Now I know, but it's too late. ![]() I appreciate some drivers over others, but there isn't a driver I don't like. They all have their own personalities that I may or may not take a fancy to, but that's what NASCAR is all about. On-track personality is all I'm concerned with. Their private life is their business, as is where they came from or how they arrived. I'm just glad SOMEone is willing and able to drive those cars at the speeds they run, and keep me entertained. ![]() |
