Hey all my fellow women drivers!!!
I am going to be heading out to my training with CRST in a few weeks. I am a new driver and dont know what to expect. I would love some feedback about this part of my job!! I am teaming with my husband after the training period.I will probably get a male trainer which once again makes me nervous!!! Any advice on how to make this smoother and less uncomfortable.... anybody know anthing about CRST the good or bad. Thanks and any other pointers u have would be great!! newbie driver |

Welcome Nursebe.
It might be a little easier to answer your questions if you let us know a little more about what you want to know. Is your husband also a new driver? Have you spent any time in a truck on the road? I don't know anything about CRST so can't say anything one way or another about them, or their training...maybe someone else with knowledge about them and their training will be able to give you some feed back.

Watch you pay check's, somethimes they will stop payment. When you go to get your money, it will not be there. This normally happens if you say you are quiting. So be sure to get your money, before you say you are quiting, this happened to a friend of mine, she never got her money. Do not become an owner operater through this company people have gone broke that way.

WOW GUESS I MISSED THAT POSTING BACK IN JUNE... MISTAKE #1 YOUR A NURSE AND GOING TO DRIVE A SEMI? Most people that actually are certified RN make over $20 an hour..u will never make that in a truck! MISTAKE #2 Trying to commit "marriage suicide" by confining 2 people to a little closed in area that can NOT stop because there are delivery appointments to make. MISTAKE #3 Your already showing your intelligence by not doing your homework for training schools and job placement centers. Wonder How Nursbe Turned Out For A Driver? LOL..Is her team driver still ALIVE? Have a Merry X-Mas, Lady_J ![]() Last edited by lady_j499 : 12-22-2009 at 01:17 PM. |

I can't tell you anything about CRST--BUT I remember all too well what it was like to go out with a trainer. Yes, it can be frightening for a woman.
You are going to be confined in a truck with bunk beds for 3 to 8 weeks most likely. You will be on your guard. Watch for the little things--if he wants to help you too much for example. Roving eyes aren't good. The thing is there are good male trainers that take there job seriously. With good luck and positive thinking that is what you'll get. My trainer....oh Lord, now there was a Neanderthal. Every time I made a mistake on my log book he would throw it at me. He sat in break rooms while I unloaded trailers by myself with a pallet jack. Not too bad really because one day I would have to do it alone anyway. But to me that was bordering on rude. He's getting paid to work AND train. It was the little things that made me learn as fast as I could. I was out with him for 3 weeks. He stood over my shoulder as I wrote my report on him. He had actually told me he would give a bad report if I said anything bad about him. I didn't even tell anyone that he left me in the truck at a truck stop for 2 days while he visited family in Louisiana. I was too new at this job for someone to do that to me.Your husband must be a driver or in training also. Be careful, keep a cool distance and call your honey at least twice a day and let the trainer hear you tell him about your day. Let it be known that you are telling someone how he is treating you. I wish you luck in your new job. I can't imagine why you are giving up a nurse job for a truck, but if it's a shortage of jobs where you are, move to Austin, TX. We need good nurses here. |
