Laid Over in New Mexico?
Albuquerque, New Mexico
Greetings from a hand who's been out there on the road a few years. My favorite layovers, or overnights are at: Albuquerque, NM.The Polynesian Lounge, located in New China Town Restaurant has a Hawaiian Band Freddy Baker and the Kauiians that offer up a great Luau and Polynesian floor show every Thurs-Sat. They have great oriental food, and excellent service. There's parking on Jackson Street next to the restaurant, which is located just West of the San Mateo St., and Old 66-Central Ave intersection. Most people get sloshed and dance the hula all night in this tranquil-blue lounge with grass shacks, outrigger canoes, and a 360 panorama mural of Waikiki Beach on Oahu, your surrounded by palm trees, and feel as if you've been swept adrift to the islands on a South Seas Island vacation.-OUTSTANDING!
Also-unusual for S.W. Albuquerque, take San Mateo exit off of I-40 and head south to Copper Ave., turn right approx 1 short block, and park on Copper, or turn left onto the side street Jackson at Central Ave next to the restaurant. Approx. 1mi West of Caravan a country two-step club.
