A dry van is basically a long rectangular box with doors on the back. It is used to transport anything from paper products to clothing to furnishings. Product is usually packaged on pallets or in containers. Drivers back into a loading dock and the product is moved with forklifts. In addition to making sure the load is secure and accounted for, sometimes drivers have to help load or unload by hand. If the carrier offers "drop and hook" or "no touch freight" it means delivering the trailer to a designated spot, unhooking it, and picking up another trailer for the next destination. In this case, drivers are moving trailers, but not loading and unloading product.
