Norfolk, Virginia –CMA CGM (America) LLC announced today that Mark Newcomb has been appointed as Safety, Security, and Environmental Officer. Mark will be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of safety, security, and environmental policies and programs for the company’s marine and inland operations throughout the United States. Mark will also lead the Incident Response Team and act as a liaison to various industry groups, along with federal and state agencies, on safety, security, and environmental matters.
Mark brings a broad range of experience to his position. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, his Navy career included work as a Judge Advocate, specializing in national security and Law of the Sea issues. Most recently, he represented vessel owners, charterers, and insurers for Davey & Brogan, P.C., a maritime and admirality law firm where he focused on developing the firm’s maritime safety and security practice.
Mark received his J.D. from the William and Mary School of Law. He will be based in the company’s Norfolk, Virginia office, and will report to Marc Marling, Vice President and General Counsel.
