JOPLIN, Mo. - Con-way Truckload, a full truckload carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), today announced its August Drivers of the Month.
"These drivers have all shown exemplary commitment to the highest levels of safety and service for our customers, and they couldn't be more deserving of this honor," said Saul Gonzalez, chief operating officer, Con-way Truckload. "We congratulate and thank them for their dedication and professionalism."
The following drivers were recognized by the company:
Company Team of the Month: Ryan and Linda Goff
"Driving for Con-way has allowed us to have a good income and spend time with each other," Linda Goff states. "This job provides us with a good living and an opportunity to travel and enjoy the countryside," Ryan Goff adds. The Goffs have three children and seven grandchildren and reside in Springfield, Mo. When they're not behind the wheel, Ryan enjoys playing golf and riding his motorcycle and Linda enjoys working in their garden.
Company Driver of the Month: Jim Ramey
"Take your time and do plenty of planning," Jim Ramey advises. "Planning as much as you can takes 99 percent of the stress away from your day," he adds. When he's at the wheel, Ramey enjoys listening to audio books and watching the passing scenery. He started driving professionally in 2003 and joined the company in 2008. Ramey resides in Cedar Hill, Texas.
Contractor Team of the Month: Diana Prieto and Fausto Colon
"We appreciate all the beautiful states we drive through on a daily basis," say Diana Prieto and Fausto Colon. "Believe in yourself and drive safely. It's simple advice, but it's the most important," they add. Prieto joined the company in 2000 and Colon began driving as a student in 2006. When she's not behind the wheel, Prieto enjoys shopping. "It's kind of my sport," she said. Colon enjoys playing baseball and cooking. They reside in San Diego with their two sons.
Contractor Driver of the Month: Cleverton Moreira
"I was a carpenter for 20 years, and when the economy changed I needed to find a new career," Cleverton Moreira recalls. Moreira joined the trucking industry as a student in 2010. His advice for other drivers is simple: "If you find a problem on your truck, get it fixed. Don't leave your problem for the next driver." Moreira resides in Danbury, Conn., and spends his time with his wife Regina and their two children.
The following five drivers achieved the significant career milestone of one and two million miles reached during the month of August:
One million: David Dean of Springfield, Mo.; Ritchie Gipson of Glenmora, La.; David Higginbotham of Grand Prairie, Texas; Ken Kehlet of Joplin, Mo.; and Reynaldo Ramirez of Ellis, Texas.
Two million: Allen Zwingle of Webb City, Mo.; and Daniel Wingert of Sierra Vista, Ariz.
