JOPLIN, Mo. - - Con-way Truckload, a full truckload carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), today announced its Drivers of the Month for January, February and March 2009. The following 18 drivers were recognized for their outstanding performance:

January

• Company Driver of the Month: Ken Taylor has been driving professionally for more than 27 years and has driven roughly 890,000 miles since joining Con-way Truckload in 2003. Taylor says his love of driving has kept him on the road all these years. He lives in Hallettsville, Texas, with his wife, CJ. The couple has six children and one grandchild. When he isn't driving, Taylor enjoys riding motorcycles and spending time with his family.

• Company Team of the Month: Carl and Becky Holt have been driving as a team for 11 years and have driven a combined 2.5 million miles with Con-way Truckload. Carl began his driving career in 1973 and joined Con-way Truckload in 1996. Becky became a driver and joined the company in 1998. Residents of San Antonio, the Holts have been married for 19 years and have six children and eight grandchildren. In their spare time, they enjoy fishing and being outdoors.

• Contractor Driver of the Month: Jon Smith started driving for Con-way Truckload in 1984 and has since driven more than 3.2 million miles. Smith originally became a driver to help a friend one winter and went on to make it his career. He currently lives in Joplin, Mo., with his wife, Tina, and has two daughters. When he is not driving, Smith enjoys spending time with friends and family.

• Contractor Team of the Month: Lawrence and Barbara Schmidt have been driving professionally for a combined 74 years - Lawrence has been driving for 39 years, while Barbara has been driving 35. Both say they enjoy their dedicated run, because they always know where their job will take them next. Residents of Marshfield, Mo., they enjoy visiting casinos in their free time.

• Company Driver of the Month: Chuck Spitler began his driving career 14 years ago and joined Con-way Truckload in 1995. He has driven more than 1.9 million miles for the company. The Greenville, Ill., resident says his favorite part of the job is seeing the sights along his routes. Spitler and his wife, Debbie, have three children and three grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing.

• Company Team of the Month: Ray and Nikki Pierce have been driving for 11 years and nine years, respectively. Together, they have driven more than 2.3 million miles for Con-way Truckload since joining the company as students. Currently living in Bailey, Texas, the Pierces enjoy working outside on their ranch when they are not on the road.

• Contractor Driver of the Month: Garry Woods joined Con-way Truckload in 2002 and has driven more than 925,000 miles for the company. Woods became a driver due to a love of traveling. The Joplin, Mo., resident and his wife, Betty, have four children and six grandchildren. When Woods has free time, he rides motorcycles and travels in his recreational vehicle.

• Contractor Team of the Month: Bill and Vicki Bumgardner have been driving as a team since 1997 and have driven more than 3.6 million miles for Con-way Truckload. Bill has been driving professionally since he joined the company in 1991, while Vicki began her driving career after leaving the circus in 1990. Residents of Helotes, Texas, the Bumgardners have six children and 11 grandchildren. In their spare time, Bill collects model trains and Vicki enjoys gardening and painting.

• Company Driver of the Month: Eric Howerton started his driving career as a student at Con-way Truckload in 2006. He says he became a driver in order to see more of the United States. Howerton currently lives in Augusta, Kan., with his wife, Kim. The couple has three children and four grandchildren. When he is not driving, Howerton likes to spend time fishing and attending his son's athletic events.

• Company Team of the Month: Al and Jennifer Sidwell joined Con-way Truckload in 2005. Al has been driving professionally for more than 18 years, while Jennifer began her driving career in 2001. Together, the Whipple, Ohio, residents have four children. When they are not working, the Sidwells enjoy fishing and riding their all-terrain vehicles.

• Contractor Driver of the Month: Leroy Ames has been driving professionally since 1967 and began driving for Con-way Truckload as a contractor in 1997. Since then, he has driven more than 1.6 million miles for the company, and recently became a company driver. A resident of Laredo, Texas, Ames enjoys fishing in his spare time.

• Contractor Team of the Month: Robert and Cecilia Wallraven became professional drivers in 1990 and joined Con-way Truckload in 1998. Since then, they have driven more than 2.3 million miles for the company. Residents of Clarksville, Tenn., the Wallravens have five children, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One of their sons also drives for Con-way Truckload. In their free time, Robert enjoys hunting and working on motorcycles, and Cecilia likes to write children's books and poetry.
