Omaha, NE  - Hill Bros. Transportation recently received the highest score offered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) SmartWaySM program.  As a SmartWaySM partner, Hill Bros. is recognized for setting and achieving greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals in freight transport.

Hill Bros. received a score of 1.25, which, according to the EPA's Web site, "represents outstanding environmental performance. These Partners already are utilizing most of the commercially available fuel saving strategies and are actively evaluating the latest emerging technologies. Partners with scores of 1.25 are awarded the honor of displaying the SmartWaySM Transport Partner logo, EPA's symbol for superior fuel efficiency and environmental performance."  Companies receive scores of 1.25, 1.00, 0.75 or 0.00.

In 2004, EPA launched SmartWaySM to identify products and services that reduce transportation-related emissions.  "The SmartWaySM brand signifies a partnership among government, business and consumers to protect our environment, reduce fuel consumption, and improve our air quality for future generations," also according to the EPA Web site.  "All of EPA SmartWaySM transportation programs result in significant, measurable air quality and/or greenhouse gas improvements while maintaining or improving current levels of other emissions and/or pollutants."

Albert Hill, Hill Bros. co-owner, stated, "Hill Bros. is committed to doing our part to improve air quality and reduce emissions.  We are honored that our efforts to make our fleet more fuel efficient were recognized by the EPA's SmartWaySM program."
