(Tacoma, Wash.) – Interstate Distributor Co. (IDC), the 66th largest U.S. truckload carrier, has announced a new Fuel Purchase Card for their Contracted Carrier program. The Fuel Purchase Card allows Independent Carriers and Owner Operators to lower their fuel costs when running with Interstate. The Fuel Purchase Card provides carriers with a 10 cents per gallon discount from the posted price in network at Flying J and Pilot Centers. Carriers also have access to purchase fuel at the posted price at all Interstate yards. The Fuel Purchase Card is an added reward of partnering with Interstate. The company has chosen not to charge any transaction fees for making purchases within the program.
“Interstate has designed the entire Contracted Carrier program to help small businesses grow,” says Cathy Canonica, Vice President of Contracted Carrier Development. “Our size and customer base allows owner operators and independent carriers access to year round Fortune 500 freight that they might not otherwise have access to haul. Now with the Fuel Card we are also helping these business owners control one of their largest operational expenses. Our plan is to help the Owner Operator with a single truck grow their business into a profitable small fleet all while still running in our network.”
About the POWER ONLY program
Interstate Distributor Co. began partnering with owner operators and independent carriers to build their businesses in 1994. Power Only gives Contract Carriers the ability to grow their businesses. “We have learned a lot over the last 17 years. The recent economic conditions forced us to re-evaluate the program and rebuild it from the ground up. We feel that our new Owner Operator and Power Only programs will help single truck or Fleets of any size to grow their business,” says Cathy Canonica.
Power Only allows carriers to avoid the roller coasters of load boards while hauling consistent year round freight. The entire Interstate portfolio of Fortune 500 customers is available for carriers to haul, allowing owners to focus on running their business profitably while Interstate finds the freight. By running on a percentage basis carriers enjoy rate increases as soon as they are secured instead of waiting for a company to raise their pay package. Carriers also received 100% of the fuel surcharge.
