(Tacoma, WA) –– Interstate Distributor Co. (IDC), the sixty-sixth largest U.S. truckload carrier according to the 2012 Transport Topics Top 100, has announced a new regional operating center in Kansas City, Mo.  The new location is part of the company’s continued growth in the Mid-West and Eastern markets.  In January of this year, Interstate began offering their driving associates regional runs.  These runs allow drivers to increase the frequency of their home time while averaging 450 to 500 miles per day.  Interstate has reworked their freight planning and dispatch operations to provide strong miles and outstanding on-time service levels for customers.  The company has added 350 new 2013 Tractors this summer as part of their growth plan.

The resurgent Interstate Distributor Co. is turning heads across the transportation industry.  A year after being acquired by Saltchuk Resources Inc., Interstate is rapidly rebuilding itself into the premier carrier it was before the recession.  In February, IDC was able to lure Marc Rogers away from Schneider National to become its president and CEO.  Marc has quickly re-energized the business, added strong leadership, and focused the company’s core principles.  Interstate demonstrated discipline and strong results during Q2 of 2012 as the company improved service for customers, added new driving jobs, and won new business awards.  In June 2012, the company began receiving 350 new 2013 Freightliner Cascadia tractors equipped with the latest in crash avoidance technologies.  In July, IDC gave drivers a new pay package.  A new regional operating center will be introduced in August as well as a new owner operator program, and a Fuel Purchase Card for Contracted Carriers.  In addition, IDC will sponsor a benefit event for the Shriners Children’s Hospitals in Chicago.
