ANN ARBOR, Mich., and PORTLAND, Ore. —  Con-way Freight, a less-than-truckload carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), today announced that it has been recognized for its exemplary safety record and practices by Oregon Trucking Associations (OTA). Con-way was awarded a fleet safety plaque for Outstanding Achievement in Highway Safety and received second place honors in the Common Carrier Less-Than-Truckload over 4 Million Miles category. The company received the same award in 2005.

The annual awards were presented at a recent ceremony in Bend, Ore. Winners are selected based on the number of miles driven divided by the number of Department of Transportation (DOT)-reportable accidents. The awards are sponsored by Great West Casualty Company, one of the largest insurers of trucking companies in the United States.

The award recognizes drivers at all four Con-way Freight terminals in Oregon, located in Eugene, Medford, Portland and Portland North. Con-way Freight currently employs 196 employees in the state.
