ARLINGTON, VA -- The National Accounting & Finance Council of the American Trucking Associations will be addressing the future impacts of the greening of the supply chain, among other issues, at their annual Executive Education Forum, slated for September 7-9, 2008 in Indianapolis, Ind.
Customers and shippers alike are beginning to demand environmental assurances when shopping for transportation services. Clean air initiatives are coming from Federal and State Governments including EPA's SmartWay and San Pedro Bay Ports Clean Air Action Plan. These and other factors are quickly influencing financial decisions and impacting the emerging field of environmental accounting.
Entitled "Managing Costs, Emissions, and Profits: A New Paradigm," this forum will help educate trucking industry CFOs and other financial professionals of the relevance of environmental accounting to the industry.
Other topics to be discussed include: Fuel Markets and Costs, Risk Management, Credit Markets, and economic and regulatory updates. One notable presenter is economist Noel Perry, founder of Transport Fundamentals with 30 years of prior experience with Schneider National, CSX and Cummings Engine Company. Perry will discuss the economic outlook of the trucking industry.
NAFC Executive Director David Hershey anticipates a strong showing from industry executives. "We are committed to educating our membership, and the trucking industry as a whole, on the emerging trends throughout the supply chain and their impacts on the trucking industry," said Hershey. "We consider environmental accounting to be a key to staying competitive."
Registration fees start at $390 for NAFC members. Early bird registration ends August 3, 2008, with fees increasing thereafter. Additionally, first time attendees are being offered an introductory rate of $299.99. Each registrant can earn up to 10 CPE credits for attending.
