(Van Buren, Arkansas) - Five technicians from USA Truck recently participated in the 2012 SuperTech National Technician Skills Competition held September 10-16 in Pittsburg, PA. The team included Henry Ipema, Anthony Jellison, Mikel Smith, Daniel Cupp and Jesse Elmore.
Four of the team qualified to compete in the final round of the championship, finishing in the Top 30%. This was the first time USA Truck technicians have competed on a national level. To determine who would qualify for the 114 available slots in this competition, the technicians had to take an extensive 3-hour ASE-based written test to narrow down the field.
"Eighty percent of our team finished in the top one-third nationally, which is unheard of for a first-year showing," said USA Truck's Paul Marshall. "These technicians had started out in the USA Truck Technician Championship in May, then they went on to compete in the Arkansas Technician Championship in June, where they finished fifth in the state. We are very proud of their great performance."
